Have you ever wondered: How did we get the Bible? Where does the Bible come from? And why are there different Bibles? In this primer for anyone interested in Bible study, Dr. Pitre takes you through a three-part study of the origins of the Old and New Testaments. Particular focus is given to the history of how the canon, the official list of books in the Bible, came to be, and the central role the Catholic Church played in the formation of the canon. Dr. Pitre also explores the reliability and authorship of the Gospels, and whether or not we can have confidence that the canon of Scripture is reliable. This fascinating series will answer questions such as:

The Origin of the Bible

Loved it. As usual Dr Pitre presented the information in a casual way that was totally understandable... l learned so much more about the Dead Sea Srolls and the finding of them, more about the decision of which books formed the Canon, and more about Luther and Calvin's part in dismantling it. Thank you, Dr Pitre

The Origen of the Bible: Human Invention or Devine Intervention.

This was the best bible study I have ever seen. Dr. Pitre is fantastic! The research was extremely thorough. The presentation was superb. All Christians should see these videos and have the typed outlines to go with them.

The Origin of the Bible

Dr. Brant Pitre did an outstanding explaining "The Origin of the Bible". Because Christians base their lives on the Bible, it must accurately proclaim God's Word. Emphasizing how it came about and by whose authority it is put together is absolutely necessary. The only thing I would like more information on is why Luther and others broke away. Dr. Pitre touched upon it in a response to a question but I wanted a deeper explanation of what the Church was doing at the time to anger dissenters. What are the lessens learned by Church leader and is it still going on? Were there abuses in Church doctrine? What was done to correct any abuses that may have taken place. I'm thinking abuses in the area of indulgences. Thank you, Boyd
