  • Are Catholic teachings on Mary really biblical? Or are they the "traditions of men"? Should she be called the "Mother of God," or just the mother of Jesus? Did she actually remain a virgin her whole life or do the "brothers of Jesus" refer to her other children? By praying to Mary, are Catholics worshipping her? And what does Mary have to do with the quest to understand Jesus?

In Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary, Dr. Pitre takes readers step-by-step from the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation to reveal how deeply biblical Catholic beliefs about Mary really are. Dr. Pitre uses the Old Testament and Ancient Judaism to unlock how the Bible itself teaches that Mary is in fact the new Eve, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the new Ark of the Covenant.

The foundation of bible study

Thank you. This book gives me the tool I need to explain Mary, not just to non-Catholics but to Catholics. This book simplifies the teachings and I am running on "OT pre-figurations can never be greater than their NT fulfillment". Thank you!

Service, shipping, and content of “Jewish roots of Mary”.

As a convert of 18 years w a fair knowledge of OT scripture, I have been able to piece together this entire picture for my use in teaching CCD 7th graders and in general discussion and outreach. I do have a couple of possible suggestions for presentation of 1) Mary as the Ark, and 2) the Assumption in light of a recent scientific/medical discovery. If possible, it might be best to speak directly with Dr. Pitre at his convenience. In that case, my phone contact me by email for phone number.Loretta B. Fleming

Jesus and Jewish Roots of Mary

I appreciate everything written by Dr. Pitre and especially appreciate historical information from his many years of study.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary

I appreciated the signed copies of this book, although I had to order a few books online from Amazon because your supply was gone. I gave them out as gifts for Christmas. One to my Pastor and Parochial Vicar, and then the others for the parish group, Right to Life. We are a small group in our parish, woman friends who stand in front of a Planned Parenthood building in our town, trying to engage young women to hear 'good' information. The people I gave them to were happy getting the books (the ones signed) because those woman are special, and we do go to adult faith formation classes when offered. I am trying, (hinting) to get our priests to have a class based on this book. Anyway, we appreciate Dr. Pitre up here in the 'unchurched' Pacific Northwest.

Hi Bridget! Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry for the out of stock issues with the Mary book. The publisher has had this on backorder twice so we have had to wait a couple weeks twice for shipments. We actually have been waiting a couple weeks currently as they are on backorder until probably some time next week based on what the publisher told me.
