Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary (Signed by Dr. Pitre)

• What does the Bible tell us about Mary of Nazareth?
• Why do Catholics venerate Mary as we do?
• What light does Jesus' identity shed on his mother?

CP 301

• What does the Bible tell us about Mary of Nazareth?
• Why do Catholics venerate Mary as we do?
• What light does Jesus' identity shed on his mother?

  • Are Catholic teachings on Mary really biblical? Or are they the "traditions of men"? Should she be called the "Mother of God," or just the mother of Jesus? Did she actually remain a virgin her whole life or do the "brothers of Jesus" refer to her other children? By praying to Mary, are Catholics worshipping her? And what does Mary have to do with the quest to understand Jesus?

In Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary, Dr. Pitre takes readers step-by-step from the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation to reveal how deeply biblical Catholic beliefs about Mary really are. Dr. Pitre uses the Old Testament and Ancient Judaism to unlock how the Bible itself teaches that Mary is in fact the new Eve, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the new Ark of the Covenant.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary

What does it say about a teacher whom you don’t occasionally zone off on while they’re speaking—whether on the page or in a video? Dr. Pitre captures the attention with not just his well-researched material, but his genuine enthusiasm and love of The Word.

For me, I’ve had to defend my faith lately. This book gives useful information needed to defend my Catholic Marian devotion.

In addition, I’ve had to explain the Catholic perspective on whether Jesus had actual brothers or not. I don’t think I did a very good job. I wish I had read this book first. Hopefully, now I’ll be better prepared next time. Very grateful for Dr. Pitre and his obvious charisms. Praying for his ministry and that God will continue to pour out the Holy Spirit upon him and his work. Christ’s peace.

Mary through the ages

I have always liked how Mr. Pitre has been able to help me understand the things of our faith in a simple, fun, intelligent and engaging way step by step. This book has been no different it is a book that has shed like on who Mary was, historically, religiously and has helped answer some good questions pertaining to her role in our lives.

Learning to love Mary for all the right reasons; It begins with the Old Testament.

As usual, Dr Pitre out did himself with a coherent, easy to read (no big words) book; when all of of a sudden you realize that what you read was profound and," I have to go back and read that again, and again, and ,oh yeah that was deep".

Put this book on your shelf right away.

OT Understanding of Mary, Mother of God

Still working my way through this book but, like all of Dr Pitre’s books that I’ve read, this one is excellent. He presents a solid scriptural basis for the Catholic view of Mary, veneration, not worship, Queen of Heaven, not just someone who played a passing role in salvation history.

The Seven Sacraments: Are They Biblical?

Wives Do What?!

And the two shall become one

Here’s the deal. Husbands and wives are helpmates to heaven. This is a great presentation on how to do that. Matrimony is about a covenant based on sacrificial love. That would be a God based relationship.

Excellent Resource

Great study on the Mass as Biblical worship. If you’ve ever wondered why the Mass is structured the way it is, this is the Bible study for you. Brant Pitre is a dynamic and engaging speaker, and I highly recommend anything from him.

Very informative.

A wonderful presentation! I now have a much better understanding of this great saint. As I have been commissioned to paint an icon of St Joseph it has been timely and inspirational.

Knowing the Context Removes the Blinders

You cannot understand what St. Paul is teaching if you don't know who he is speaking to and how these people lived in the first century. You must understand the historical background, and no one explains it better than Dr. Petre. He opens up the first century, shows us how the gentiles lived and, more importantly, how Christ wanted them to live. The sad truth is that we face a similar culture today, and it gives me hope that the Church and its teachings survived and will survive again. If I had anything to say about it, I would insist that every engaged couple view this presentation. St. Paul's teachings are as relevant today as they were twenty centuries ago. I've been married for 35 years, but I learned a little more on how to improve my relationship with my husband.

Do I recommend this product to others? Absolutely! Everyone can learn from it.
