In this exciting talk, Dr. Pitre shines the light of the Old Testament and ancient Judaism on the words and deeds of Jesus to reveal the amazingly Jewish roots of the Eucharist. Using his in-depth knowledge of Jewish messianic expectations, Dr. Pitre shows how the hope for a New Exodus and the coming of the Messiah proves that Jesus really did intend to give us the Eucharist, and it is nothing less than the gift of Himself, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
In this presentation, you will explore the Eucharist as the New Passover, the New Manna from Heaven, and the mysterious New ‘Bread of the Presence.’ If you are looking to deepen your faith in and understanding of the inexhaustible treasure that is the Eucharist, then this talk is for you.
If you are like me and grew up with minimal catechesis on the Eucharist, you will find this talk like a river in the desert. Pitre shows the Eucharist is not an anomaly but is deeply connected with the entire of Salvation History and is indeed an event that the Jews in Jesus' time would have been able to view as deeply consistent with what had gone before in their faith. I have recommended this talk to so many people. It is short and covers so much. I'll never think of the Eucharist in the same way again.
This is a profound talk! Dr Pitre draws on Old Testament typology in order to highlight the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist! I keep a copy of it in my car and listen to it regularly as it has changed my life and deepened my faith, in ways that I am only beginning to articulate! I cannot recommend this highly enough to anyone who wants to learn more about the Eucharist!
Just great. I plan to share this with my Catholic evidence league and my priest.
Such speedy delivery !
I really enjoyed the DVD, as I do all of Dr. Pitre's talks. He is every engaging to watch and listen to. He also has a great sense of humor. He just makes everything so much easier to comprehend and understand. I also have gotten a good response for any non Catholic friends that I have shared them with.
