Have you ever wondered: How did we get the Bible? Where does the Bible come from? And why are there different Bibles? In this primer for anyone interested in Bible study, Dr. Pitre takes you through a three-part study of the origins of the Old and New Testaments. Particular focus is given to the history of how the canon, the official list of books in the Bible, came to be, and the central role the Catholic Church played in the formation of the canon. Dr. Pitre also explores the reliability and authorship of the Gospels, and whether or not we can have confidence that the canon of Scripture is reliable. This fascinating series will answer questions such as:

    • Where did the Bible come from?
    • Why are there so many different versions of the Bible?
    • Why are those books in the Bible?
    • What was the Jewish Bible like at the time of Jesus?
    • Why are there seven less books in Protestant Bibles than in Catholic Bibles?
    • How do we know that the Gospels are reliable?
    • What are the Dead Sea Scrolls and the “Lost Gospels”?
    • How did Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformers change the Bible?
    • What about “Sola Scriptura” and belief in the “Bible Alone”?

Very Informative!

I have often pondered on the truthfulness and accuracy of the Bible. While my Scripture studies have only just begun, this really was a fantastic start. It answered a lot of my questions about who exactly wrote and compiled the Bible, and when all of that occurred. I'm convinced that these 73 books are Divinely Inspired!

Phenomenal!!

As always, Dr. Pitre teaches in a well thought out and structured talk that keeps my attention from the start to the finish. I have learned so much from Dr. Pitre's many books and videos. The Origin of the Bible is the best video that I have watched on the subject.

Dr Pitre is amazing. The way he teaches makes it so easy to understand. He gives me answers to questions I never thought to ask. Without hesitation I will be buying more Bible studies that he has done.

Fantastic

This is a great talk on what Catholics believe about Mary. The book, Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary is more detailed. I highly recommend both. As usual, Dr. Pitre does a great job!

The Jewish Roots of Holy Week

I liked “The Jewish Roots of Holy Week :The Seven Last Days of Jesus” very much and appreciate that you divided it into chapters so that I can use it during Lent next year. Your prices are so reasonable too! Thank you!
