Incredible depth and detail that opened up the Mass Readings for me.
Please please put it on a DVD..
Great introduction to the catechism. Left me wanting more. We need a explanation on every paragraph.
1 hour (1 CD / 1 DVD / MP3)
Are marriage and the priesthood “opposites” of each other? Are they two opposing and exclusive ways to serve God? Or, are they somehow profoundly linked to one another?
In this presentation given at the 2009 Word of God Conference, Dr. Bergsma, former Protestant pastor and now Professor of Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, examines the passion story of the Gospel of John, showing the unexpected and surprising ways that John reveals Jesus as both priest and bridegroom at the Cross. Married couples and priests alike will benefit from this moving reflection on the way both sacraments—Matrimony and Holy Orders—participate in the self-sacrifice of the crucified Christ.
This talk blew my mind and opened my eyes to the greater meaning of Christ as the Bridegroom. I've listened to this multiple times and continue to be amazed by just this one mystery of Christ.
Found it very interesting but would have loved more depth and cultural context for the times that texts were written. Otherwise I enjoyed listening to it. Wish it was a longer study so we could hear more content on this very crucial topic.
I have not watched my DVDs nor listened to my CDs…been busy! But I loved the Brant Petri series I perched a month or so ago and also The Fourth Cup. I lead a Discipling group and I like to vary the material I use. You also replaced a DVD that skipped for me. Thanks for that prompt return!
Enjoyed Bergsma as always
This talk was not a great biblical resource, but a fountain of grace during the Triduum. It's an amazing theological talk, but also beautiful. Can't recommend enough!
