Incredible depth and detail that opened up the Mass Readings for me.

Great introduction to the catechism. Left me wanting more. We need a explanation on every paragraph.
There are 20 disks. I have listened to 4, and am THRILLED so far! Yes, Dr. Smith basically reads his notes, but I think that's fine. I can listen, and review his notes and not miss anything. The Lord has prompted me for several years to explore the ancient Temple of Israel, but I hadn't found anything on my level. This is IT!
I can "see" Eden as the first Temple, and Adam being the first priest. I "get" that Adam did not perform his duty to guard the Eden Temple. It makes sense to me that all God creates is good, yet, outside Eden it's untamed. Kind of reminds me of my own youth — I needed to be "tamed". Yes, I highly recommend this series. You won't regret it. Plus, I "see" the segue to our Catholic Churches today — God "dwelled" with the ancient Israelites, and His Real Presence dwells with us today.
This is one of the best studies I have purchased and gone through. It is well organized and presented well by Dr. Smith. The handout is great and Dr. Smith refers to it frequently. The audio is always very clear. The issues that exist with studies that are recordings of a class aren't in this study; things like, fading audio, empty spaces that happen when the professor is drawing or looking for a passage in the Bible... It seems as if Dr. Smith is presenting to the listener. I will be getting more of Dr. Smith's studies.
Very well done! Thanks Steve!
A great overview the biblical theme of the 'Temple' throughout Scripture.
I heard about this course a while ago and always wondered why the temple and priesthood figured so largely into each book of the Bible. Why do our protestant friends not see the liturgical and "religious" dimension to all of Scripture? Thanks to this course, I can turn to the Old Testament and truly experience its richness and wonder. I can pray the divine office as a member of the "Heavenly Jerusalem". I wanted to wait until the right time to listen to it. Temple theology is key to the total understanding of Jesus and His mission. The content is substantial and deeply researched. I am enjoying every minute and feel inspired beyond belief to study and pray the Word of God every chance I can get. Thank you, Dr.Smith and CP. I feel as though I have embarked on what will become a lifelong journey that will lead me gracefully from middle age (44 years old) to my last breath.
25 hours 23 min. (20 CDs / MP3)
Jesus lived "in the shadow of the Jewish Temple." At the center of His identity and spirituality was the reality of the Temple. In this fast-moving and in-depth series, join Dr. Smith (and his audience of seminarians) and discover:
It's all here in glorious color, with rich insights from Scripture, the Church fathers, mystics, and wise theologians … culminating in the vision of the Temple of the heavenly Jerusalem. Dr. Smith will also explain how "temple theology" impacted the architecture and worship of earliest Christianity.
