Paperback: 604 pages
Publisher: Eerdmans, August 2017
This book is a little more academic than a few of Dr Pitre's other books, but not less insightful and challenging! He is very clear and articulate, in drawing the Old Testament typology into this most profound event in the course of human history!
Have not been able to read more than about 30-40 pages Wish the extensive foot notes were a bit less. Am going to continue to read the book that I bought.
I enjoy the writing style of Dr. Pitre. Also, his videos are excellent. He draws me more into Catholicism.
Dr Pitre wrote a great book. We realize it is expensive to print so there was no bargain price to be had . The signature was nice, but it was probably one of a number he signed at the same time. Not displeased, just not impressed.
I have just finished reading Jesus the Bridegroom by Dr. Brant Pitre, and I must say that I was deeply impressed with the author's insight and clarity. Although this book is a little more academic in nature, its content has nonetheless deepened and strengthened my personal relationship with Jesus as a spiritual devotional book might. Until I read this book, I had a broad and general understanding of the subject, which I now see how shallow it was and how much I took for granted without giving it much thought. His drawing connections with ancient Jewish religious beliefs and customs to bring out the fulness of God's revelation has certainly captured my attention and deepened my understanding of what I have professed to believe, but not comprehensively enough. And certainly, my appreciation for the beauty and truth of our Catholic faith has increased immeasurably. I plan to read Jesus and the Last Supper as soon as I return from my trip to Europe this summer. I have already read Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist (through Ignatius Press) so this shorter book might be a good prelude for a more in-depth study. I intend to re-read and often consult these books in the future to preserve and develop the knowledge I gained from reading them the first time. They contain much more wealth for thought than other books I've read on these subjects in the past. I definitely give 5 stars for Jesus the Bridegroom which I purchased from Catholic Productions. And I'll certainly recommend it to others who are exploring the Catholic Faith or wish to better understand the faith they profess. Finally, I hope to see more books available in the catalogue. Thanks, anyway, for what I discovered you now have that's available.
