One of the most commonly asked questions about the Catholic faith is “Why do I have to confess my sins to a priest? Why can’t I just confess them directly to God?”

In this important new Bible study, Dr. Brant Pitre provides solid, biblical answers to this common objection. Using the teachings of Sacred Scripture in both the Old and New Testaments, Dr. Pitre unveils the biblical roots of the Catholic sacrament of reconciliation. In this presentation, you will learn about:

    • The Old Testament Practice of Confession
    • The Biblical Difference between Mortal Sin and Venial Sin
    • When Jesus gave the Apostles the Power to Forgive Sins
    • Why Confession goes back to Jesus Himself
    • The Meaning of St. James’ Words: “Confess Your Sins to One Another”
    • Pope Francis’ Encouraging Words about Confession

If you’ve ever wondered about the difference between mortal and venial sin; or if you’ve have a family member or friend who hasn’t been to confession in years and you’d like to encourage them; or if you yourself have struggled with whether or not to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, then this Bible study is for you.

Along the way, you’ll get encouragement from Pope Francis himself, who says to us all: “Be courageous, Go to confession!”

Why do I have to go for confession?

This video was excellent in helping me understand the why, what and how of the sacrament. Sacramdnts are such a gift to us, we should truly try to understand the significance and meaning behind it to appreciate it right. Dr Pitre teaches just that and really helps you go deeper.

Loved it

I learn so much from Dr Pitre in general. I own a few of his books & have listened to his talks on YouTube & I appreciate the way he teaches. I decided to purchase this study (in addition to another one for Advent, with Mary)seeing as we're approaching Advent 2021 & I'm so glad I did. It didn't disappoint. I'm back on here purchasing 4 more! I appreciate his style & method of explaining things.

Nothing Dead here. Interesting and insightful here.

I thought the CD was great. It offered me much to think about and ponder about our Lord while he was on this earth.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Advent

Brilliant, challenging, comprehensive, uplifting!

Case for Jesus

This was the first book I bought and read of Dr. Pitre’s. I found it really accessible. It was easy to follow and well written. This introduction to Dr. Pitre and his skill at communicating his knowledge in a way that is easy to follow has led me to continue to study with more of his works.

Jesus and the End Times

With all the events happening in the world today, I enjoyed and received peace of mind hearing the Catholic view of the end times.
